What ages do you tutor?

I currently work as a private tutor, supporting children aged 5–11 with their learning, confidence and individual needs.

When are lessons available?

I currently offer after-school tutoring from 3.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as sessions on Saturday mornings. I also have some daytime availability, which may be particularly suitable for home-educated children and families looking for greater flexibility.

Are sessions online or face-to-face?

Both online and face-to-face tutoring are available. We can discuss which option would work best for your child before the first lesson. For face-to-face tutoring, I currently offer sessions in the child’s own home, helping to make lessons convenient and comfortable for both children and families.

How long is a session?

The current lesson format is 60 minutes and costs £30 per session.

My child is anxious about tutoring. Will they cope?

Absolutely. I pride myself on helping children feel relaxed, calm and comfortable. The first session is always gentle and low-pressure, giving your child plenty of time to settle in and get to know me. I adapt my approach to your child’s individual pace, confidence and needs. If there is anything your child is particularly worried or anxious about, please let me know beforehand so I can make the session as positive and reassuring as possible.

Do you support children with additional needs?

Yes. I have many years of experience supporting children with a wide range of additional needs, including children with more complex needs. I also work with Lexia Education Services, providing alternative learning provision for children with SEND.

I strongly believe that every child has the right to learn, make progress and reach their full potential. I see my role as understanding the individual child, identifying any barriers to their learning and finding ways to remove those barriers so they can feel confident, successful and enjoy learning.

Do you offer holiday tuition?

Yes, please do get in touch if you’re interested in holiday tuition. I offer a 4-session holiday block for £110 or a 6-session block for £160.

For children who may already be finding aspects of their learning challenging, a little support during the holidays can make a real difference. Sessions are relaxed and tailored to your child, helping to keep their learning ticking over, revisit anything they have found difficult and build their confidence. The aim is for them to return to school feeling positive, prepared and ready to learn.

What are your qualifications and DBS status?

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Physical Education and a PGCE in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I have 25 years of experience teaching primary-aged children across a wide range of ages and abilities.

I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and am registered with the DBS Update Service. I am more than happy to show parents my DBS certificate before I begin working with their child. I also undertake regular safeguarding and child protection training and have completed Prevent Duty training. Keeping children safe, supported and comfortable is at the heart of my practice.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. You can contact me using the contact form, by email or by phone. We can have an informal chat about your child, any areas where they may need support and what you would like them to gain from tutoring. I can also talk you through how I work and my current availability.

There’s no pressure or commitment at this stage – it’s simply an opportunity to see whether I might be the right tutor for your child.
